About Us
Bill Suydam grew up with an interest in science, but remembers being a writer from childhood. He first combined writing with his interest in science and technology while working in a research lab at Columbia University Medical School (Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons). His boss,
a brilliant biochemist, needed occasional help with her English while writing papers and applying for research grants; Bill was pressed into service.
Later, having studied photography under John Shearer at the Columbia School of Journalism, he began to work for newspapers as a photographer, but kept writing.
He developed an interest in computers, then began writing about those. That led to jobs as a magazine editor in addition to his freelance assignments.
Eventually, he got to return to his love of science and especially to topics concerning health.
More recently, Bill has served as Health Spectator’s editor. He enjoys finding stories of interest concerning health, especially those issues that are inadequately covered by the conventional press. He is particularly interested in how diet and supplements can build robust health and be used to prevent and correct disease.
